It's actually a very real possibility. We had to find about $150 some 10 to 15 
years ago when $150 was for us at that time quite a lot of money. While the 
library were very decent about letting us pay it off week by week it 
certainly taught me the lesson that it is worth waiting for the clerk to push 
the books under the bar-code reader.

And yes I do mean "that one has to look after one's library card".

Also, last time I was in the Library I made mention to the library staff how 
difficult it is to navigate to to the premium databases, and that the library 
might find it a good idea to them greater prominence. I was told that the WWW 
site is being completely redone at the moment.

Now might be the moment to put in a request that the login should be protected 
by the SSL. ( Personally I am not worried about it, There are much better 
places than the public library to snag pr0n, but I can understand your point 
only too clearly. )
