I entertained the thought of digging my own trench and putting in grease-filled cat 5 (4 pairs). My electrician mate told me that phone cables are in some kind of grease-filled sheath to protect from moisture. I haven't costed the idea so it might be a pipedream. > Best of luck to you Robert.
