I meant files generated by dvipdf but I tested it and I have the same problem with pdflatex. acroread always uses a hardly readable font. I mostly use kpdf and acroread 6/7 on windows with which I have no problems.

(I don't have my on printer and all the people whose printers I use have windows. That is why I have to use acroread 6/7 on windows.)
