OK thanks for letting us know that, are you sure you did amend it properly AND save the changes? look at the file again to make double sure - its a long file with all that commented stuff in it so use less less /boot/grub/menu.lst hit page up and page down to move up and down the file and Q to exit the pager. There is an entry on the ubuntu forum that indicates you might need to change some of the bios settings for the hard disk. http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-330.html then again, you could just forget windows - consider it an enforced transition :-) If you want a simple way back to windows there is no point uninstalling linux as that will NOT affect your bootloader, except perhaps to make it crap out even more.
