Maybe you should also subscribe to the NZLUG list. Most CLUG subscribers are around Christchurch, although I notice we're becoming quite popular, with subscribers as far away as Dunedin and Austria :-)
Anyway, it sounds like you need someone local to drop in and take a look at your computer. I suspect there must be at least one other linux user in Taumarunui.
