LinuxCanada puts out a package called Quasar. Runsa on *Nix and Windoze machines. It is implemented using a firebird db backend. It is one user at a time for free. Extra users etc cost around $50.00 per add on.
I have been using for my business for over 18 months without a hitch. It is similar to look at to MYOB. <asbestos pants> There is also Cashbooks by Accalim software. To run it on *nix you would need to run vmware or similar and emulate a *doze os. It is free (as in cost) and has support for 27 languages. My end user experience is that it is very easy to learn and use for someone who is familiar with other accounting packages.
