So you do all this upgrade work on the computer in question, maybe even buy some memory. Then the diskdrive (or something equally important) dies.. So how much longer will the computer live? It seems a bit pointless to fight the old hardware and install a new OS when it will die of natural causes pretty soon. Have you looked inside the computer - how thick is the dust? Derek.
