That link is 5 years old! IPv6 is here to stay. It's supported by any network company worth its salt, including the equipment produced here in Christchurch by Allied Telesyn.
Implementing IPv6 these days is about as easy as flicking on a switch (that includes Linux). I perceive the major stumlbing block to be the net admins (especially in the US) who fear it because they are frightened to learn something new. IPv6 is widespread in Japan, I believe there's some kind of national push for it.
