Whilst I have no doubt that's true, imho, the best way to express disapproval of this sort of overbearing behaviour by the colonial master is by large numbers of people on the steps of Parliament. That is the mechanism by which the equivalent legislation got delayed in Europe.
Remember that it's election year and the pollywogs are particularly sensitive. I think the whole of "Intellectual Property" legislation needs re-examining. By which I mean, copyrights, patents, and trademarks. i.e. the whole kit and kaboodle. Patents etc., have become a mechanism by which the Corporates of the world can overpower and legally steal ideas from the little people, whether they are real live individuals or other smaller entities. Personally I don't want to be a member of a population of a State which not only condones such behaviour but encourages it by what the IPONZ is doing right now. It's unfortunate to say the least that we didn't get A into G at the time the enabling legislation was going through Parliament last year. -- C. S.
