The Linux fdisk partition listing is as folows:
Device Start/End/Blocks Id System /dev/hda1 7 NTFS /dev/hda2 f W95 Ext'd LBA /dev/hda3 83 Linux /dev/hda5 b W95 FAT32 /dev/hda6 b W95 FAT32 /dev/hda7 82 Linux swap
This would explain why I got the listing of my WinLin FAT32 partition so if I do the same suggested exercise with hda3, I should be OK ?

that should list your partitions.
don't believe anything a dos boot floppy tells you.
