So far, I've always tested the link using pings, with no problem at Gateway.
Something like-
drop pings
$IPTABLES -A INPUT -i $INTERNAL -p icmp --icmp-type echo-request -j DROP
drop pongs
$IPTABLES -A INPUT -i $INTERNAL -p icmp --icmp-type echo-reply -j DROP
take a look at the iptables script and change icmp echo's to ACCEPT for the
internal network.
I don't have those lines at all, but only this:
$IPTABLES -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o $EXTIF -s 192.168.0.1/32 -j MASQUERADE
Gateway end is not the problem. It always works.
