Bingo, sussed (see yesterday's thread-end). First/test mail.. Quick fix: Using "Network Settings", dummy eth0 & eth1 were created, so that eth2 rolled up next. This latter alone is "activated".
No doubt there is a tidier remedy. Suggestions welcome / bring along to Sydenham 7.30pm if you wish. We are likely to spend time navigating & tweaking this install this evening, and/or installing Sarge for comparison (thanks Steve). Next task: Which repository/package can I use to download wvdial for Testing, & try to get ppp0 dialup Internet going too? Is it better to install Sarge, where it should be included by default?
