The modem is working! I get 5.4kbps, 25% more than in SuSE. I somehow
managed to download wvdial and copied /etc/wvdial.conf which I had
tested before from SuSE. I have recompiled my kernel by now about 5
times, so I have no idea why it is working. Now I will try to get sound
going and emerge more packages (readline, thunderbird, emacs, amarok,
kde-3.4.0, gnome-2.10, gimp, oggvorbis, OOo, java-1.5.0-r2, kinternet,
games, 3d-support etc. etc. etc.). I also had to apply some changes to
the script from the last mail and various .profiles and /etc/profiles
