Mostly I prefetch. But I never disconct. I added wvdial to the default
runlevel, so that I only connect when starting the computer and
disconnect when shutting it down. I have a flat-rate and I almost never
use my phone, so that is the easiest way to do it. There is one very
nice package called getdelta. Unfortunatly it does not work with amd64
yet. At the moment I mostly do two jobs at the same time: e.g.: "emerge
-uD world" in one terminal and "emerge firefox" in another. There was
also somwhere a nice tip/howto about downloading and compiling at the
same time, but I can't find it anymore. Anyway most things are done
after a night .
