At least in windows one can kill a print job which has already started[1]. Expensive (in terms of ink and glossy paper) exercise under Linux, unless you are root and have spent a long time learning the commands you need to type. Personally I'd find it much smarter to have a no-frills raw queue and to do all the option selection stuff in a front-end program, not in the print queue.
