I found the solution for this. I did not enable Microsoft Joliet CDROM extensions in make menuconfig. The CD (the only CD I used in the past five weeks) I had problems with was a windows game. I cannot test it now but I suspect that compiling this in will solve the problem.

2. When I mount CDs the names are shortened to 8.3: "linux-installer.sh" becomes "linux-in.sh". I have noticed the same conversion when wirting data to a USB-stick. For PDFs this does not matter but it is impossible to install programs from CD like this.
