I suspect the monitor simply turns to fog when run at such a high frequency. Go into yast/hardware/graphics+monitor, and change the monitor setup manually and reduce the maximum vertical frequency to 70Hz. Also try to ascertain whether the problem is caused by too small fonts being used in KDE and other apps. You change this by using a desktop geometry in the X11 configuration (same place in yast as above), but you sound like larger fotns are still blurry which makes me think it's more to do with the monitor than the software.
