Yes, and the otoh no. :-)
You can mount the disc where-ever you want by changing the command issued by 
the icon, but the default mount point upon which the CD is mounted 
is /mnt/cdrom. Changing the device in the icon file is something of a pain, 
because you have to add the device name and mount point to the /etc/fstab 
file.

Alternatively you can issue what ever variation on the mount command you fancy 
'by hand' from a terminal. 

Have a play, you can't hurt your computer by mounting devices such as 
floppies, cdroms, or USB gadgets. ( Writing garbage all over their file 
systems or making new filesystems, thus making existing data unavailable 
excepted :-)
