Correct.  It's Telstra's cable modem.  The router is mine.  It has a 4-port 
10/100 switch on the LAN side, a WAN port, a serial port and a parallel 
port.  It's solid state, and has been generally fabulous.  The serial port 
is to allow a modem to be attached- if the cable goes down the router will 
dial the ISP on the modem (this is also good for non-cable environments: 
you effectively get a 4-port LAN with dial-on-demand).  The parallel port 
is to connect a printer.  The router exposes an lpd queue which is Unix 
compatible (but requires a small port redirector program for Windows).
