Well I wanted to be able to get details for movies I have stored on my media computer, instead of manually inputting the metadata.
In mythtv you can browse your movies and see a nice poster, plot summary, directors etc (examples http://mythtv.sourceforge.net/mc/mythvideo4.png and http://mythtv.sourceforge.net/mc/mythvideo5.png) - although to date I have been entering metadata myself. In fact the functionality is built right into mythtv, where I was aiming to put it! It does a search based on the file name and if there are several possibilities offers you a choice: http://mythtv.sourceforge.net/mc/mythvideo3.png Last time I used it, the imdb web pages had changed, and the myth system wasn't working, so i was looking to use a script that did work so I could stop doing it manually. However the myth system seems to have been fixed, so i am happy. Well it could still do with some tweaking, but that can wait!
