I need a new cd writer, and at the prices i may as well get the ability to write dvd as well.
so, what should I look for? avoid? I assume that I would want dual layer, with support for dvd-r dvd+r dvd-rw dvd+rw any other combinations of letters I have missed? Anything that does/doesn't work with linux? (I know all should work as an atapi device, but you occasionally see incompatibilities of various firmware etc mentioned) -- Nick Rout
