iptraf, curses based but quite "graphical"

with netstat try :

netstat -tanp 

the p gives the name and pid of the process that made the connection -
it'll only name yours, but run it as root (via sudo preferably) to get
it to name all processes.

This can help alleviate concerns about some of the connections.
