I've not had that problem. I've yet to have a ssh session die on me.

It may or may not apply to the RTA770W but I had an RTA730W (?) for a while and
its firmware would drop connections idling for more than 60 seconds,
my ssh sessions would be broken regularly and no RST packet was sent to my host
( ie my teminal would hang ... :( )
