The XH8286 is an IRDA device. IRDA<>your average consumer remote control. As some will know I am fitfully playing with lirc, and a home brew serial receiver, and about to build a transmitter to control the sky box. I have got the serial receiver to the point where it will receive signals and record the output of a remote with irrecord. It will also recognise subsequebt interaction with the remote. However I have more work to do as it seems to think the one and two keys have the same code, that the power and up keys have the same code and a few other difficulties as well. I have not built the transmitter yet. You might like to look at this dse kit: k3608,although there is damn all info on it on the dse page, not sure if compatible with lirc. Also the links on the lirc page of course, and this one: http://iguanaworks.net/ir/ -- Nick Rout
