It is amazing how rapidly the technical discussion descends from the
heights of data preservation into the depths of maximal destruction.
Personally I would recommend neutron activation.
Bath the drive in a high flux of neutrons until it is sufficiently
radioactive that it fries the electronics of any system it's put in to.
The nice thing is they would probably destroy quite a few of their own
systems and possibly a finger or two before they worked out what was
happening...
