The best illustration I know of this problem: Remember the picture you were taught at school on the structure of an atom. In theory, the nucleus should just fly apart cause it consists of lots of separate positive charges - and like charged particles repel each other. The reason it does not fly apart is the simple model is actual fact a very very simple model, and has left heaps out.
