I've tried compiling gcc; I've successfully compiled tcc and rc (the Plan9 shell) I've even successfully compiled sc (spreadsheet compiler, I think it means - public domain Unix spreadsheet). and of course SIMH - the pdp11, vax, z80, etc, emulator. After a while it begins to look like the geek equivalent of the axman's competitions that I saw a number of times when I was a kid visiting Showdays.
