I am writing this from webmail using firefox 1.06 on the new gentoo X installer CD. It opens a nice gnome desktop, looking to me rather like ubuntu, but less brown :) Forget the installer, this makes a lovely live cd! I was able to use all the normal gnome stuff, like browsing my lan and starting a movie on a remote machine (opened in totem, gmplayer didn't seem to want to work over the lan) It has openoffice, although like most cd based live cd's that takes a while to startup! very very nice. I am scared to go past the first couple of screens in the gui installer, I don't want to reformat my hdd by mistake! I will now explore a little and then try installing it in a vmware session. > > -- > CS >
