Is there a way to interrogate a drive to see what its serial number is? I have a drive in a machine at home that I believe is failing. I have an invoice here at the office which I think is the right one, but the serial number would tie it right in.
I cannot physically get to the box from here, but I can ssh in. /proc/ide/hdb/model is a start. and dmesg no longer has the bootup stuff, its long disappeared under the weight of error messages about this drive. -- Nick Rout <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
