For your problem, go with the one with the longest warantee....
Interesting quote in todays NY Times Circuits column where he had
the same problem of a dead drive.... Since he reviewed a recovery
outfit a few weeks, he was trying them out....
Quote:-
So how did DriveSavers do? I'll let you know next week.
But one bit of advice Rian gave me is too important to
withhold. When I asked if any one brand of drive was better
than the others, he gave me an emphatic no. "EVERY drive will
fail," he said, with the tone of somebody who's spent ten
years watching a parade of broken hard drives. "It's not a
matter of if, but when. The only good hard drive is one
that's been backed up."
End Quote:-
For your problem, go with the one with the longest warantee....
Since you have a backup system in place

store, which are recomended?
Seagate barracuda (5 yr warranty) $165
Samsung (3 yr warranty) $169
Western Dig (3 yr) $189

New Zealand university salaries are 20% behind those in Australia and
47% behind the UK. Michael Cullen has a $7billion surplus under his bed.
The VCs say they can't afford to increase salaries.
Between July 20 and August 4th, I will be engaging in industrial action
to support a National Collective Employment Agreement and competitive
pay rates for University Staff.
This will restrict the speed with which I respond to emails.
