I looked into the whole quiet cooling fairly deeply.

The water cooling kits for ~$150 look good, but they all use a 120 mm fan
and radiator.  The case I have only has a mount for 80 mm fans.  Both kits
are rated as "really good value" and "95% as good as spending three times as
much"  One had a single waterblock, the other had three waterblocks for the
GPU and the northbridge as well.

I ended up getting an Arctic Cooler Freezer for $60.  Its not silent, but
its way better than the intel stock HSF.

My son Simon had a water cooled machine for quite a while. I think the stuff
is for sale now though as he has a new more portable case to go to his LAN
sessions (he was in Wellington this pat weekend with it).
