Nick I tried that and I do believe I followed the advice to the 'T', but I still couldnt open half of the directories. What I will do, if it is soooo bad, is go back to the link Ross gave and post my problems from there. I do not fear working as root, I'm not going to delete anything, and all I'm changing is httpd.conf, possibly my php.ini later, but its only the php, apache, mysql stuff I need access to. Best to learn the correct way of doing things, I guess. Regards Kelvyn.
