Right I'm looking for a little advice on how to set up a mail server.

I've got two systems (laptop & desktop) both which need to access the
same pop3 account and I need the emails to show up on both of them, so
both systems have full access to the the past messages and can send and
receive them from the account.

The desktop is running Linux (Mdk/Mdv) I was thinking the best way to do
this might be to set up an IMAP mail server on the desktop which then
thunderbird on both the desktop and laptop would access. I'd then need
to use something to grab the emails from the web based pop server and
add them to the imap server. I also want to use spamassassin in there is
well.

Can any one suggest a good method of doing this and what
applications/mail servers would be best to do this? If any one can think
of a better method I'd love to hear it.
