I note that the monitoring of CPU core temperature (from BIOS) states that

On my machine
"dmesg" finds this CPU
CPU: L1 I Cache: 64K (64 bytes/line), D cache 64K (64 bytes/line)
CPU: L2 Cache: 512K (64 bytes/line)
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+ stepping 00

"sensors" finds this temperature
CPU Temp: +39.0°C (high = +80°C, hyst = +75°C) sensor = thermistor

We just recently had a machine that was in the high sixty degrees.
Turned out that the heat sink clamp was broken and not making
a good connection between CPU and heatsink. Replaced and working lot
cooler now.

Should I be concerned about these figures? At the moment I am using the
supplied AMD HSF and a single case fan, would adding another case fan
help?
I suspect a case fan wouldn't make much difference if the case temp is at
30 degrees -- the heat needs to get away from the 65degree CPU. Maybe
the CPU fan is not working properly??

I didn't realise until recently that there was the command
/usr/bin/sensors but it gives interesting info.
Check out the CPU fan and see if it is spinning fast or has
slowed down or stopped

mine is ....
CPU Fan: 3154 RPM (min = -1 RPM, div = 2)
