title Xandros Linux 3.0 (starter)
root (hd0,8)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.9-x1 root=/dev/hda9 ro acpi=off
initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.9-x1.gz
Ok.
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.9-x1 root=/dev/hda9 quiet rw acpi=on
- The parameters were in there from lilo appends (as per Nick's direction).
Trying these new options now..
And.. Plan B (from discussion with a handy advisor):
(my personal choice), Don't-Use-Xandros!
Its gross limitations are rapidly coming to light.
It is highly deficient in Gnome offerings (eg gedit & gftp absent), and
the killer in this case might be Grub itself.
If (Debian)hda8/boot/grub/menu.lst has no (Xandros)hda9/boot/grub/
directory to pass on to, would that halt its boot? Xandros relies on
lilo & KDE entirely - too limited by far.
Xandros Review: A slick but troublesome (for tweaking; commercial)
non-standard distro. Wonderful for newbies, excellent multimedia. - Give
it to your windos friends, with a very broad smile. :-) Wifi connects
automatically, shares and all. Fun & easy to play with. Wizards
everywhere. All sound works. My favourite KDE base thus far. ****
