Telstraclear killed my internet at 1:52 this morning, and it's still

in any more. Does anyone know any more?
On Paradise's home page was a statement that there would be an outage on
the cable modem service from 00:01 for up to 6 hours on the morning of
Wednesday 19th October. It's been there for a while.
If you can't be bothered to read the homepage periodically for customer
service announcements then you shouldn't complain.
Mine went out at ~1:33am. Yes it was nice that they have it on their
home page except I don't check their home page. Only thing I use the
Paradise home page for is to get to the traffic usage page (usually with
Lynx where you don't get that main frame anyway). A RSS feed for
outages/problems would be much better. And long after 6am the
connection was still down anyway (didn't come back up until ~18:45,
although it may have been earlier but that's after I got home and
power-cycled the modem). What I did check was the Network Status page
(with my cellphone first before I got to work, hate to think how much
that cost) which every time I checked on Wednesday said that there were
no problems even though I knew of two cable modems on different sides of
Christchurch that weren't going. But I didn't really put much faith in
the Network Status page because the first time I checked it it was
7:33am (by my watch and the web page) and it said that it was last
updated at 8am!!
Oh well. It's going again now. Just have to wait a bit and see how
many mailing lists I have been unsubscribed from because my email didn't
go through in a timely manner.
