Isn't the mini-confs are an entirely different schedule? For the GNOME
mini-conf, I'm sure most of the talks will be arranged at the last
minute, and attendance usually depends on who shows up on the day.

I'm pretty sure that attendees of the OOo mini-conf could show up on
those days and not bother paying in anything - no one will be checking.
Of course, don't quote me on that. It would be bad form to show up to
the main conference without registering though, and usually people check
to see if you're displaying your conference badge.
