Been having some problems getting the video camera to talk 1394 with my desktop
box, so decided to see if a hand-rolled kernel would boot by now ( due to me
using reiserfs everywhere, this is a know problem ).

Downloaded 2.6.14.2 from kernel.org, and used the default configuration for FC4
to build it from.

And promptly ran out of disk space.

It now requires 2.1GB to build your own kernel. Obviously less if you get rid
of all of the options that you don't need, which is a long and tedious task to
say the least!

Unbelievable!

PS. Anyone had any success with modern kernels and Nvidia 2 ieee1394 ports? I
know a load of work has been done on this interface, but kino *used* to work
fine with my trusty Canon MV30.
