I can't get txt2html to install on my (work) Win2K machine. This is
wildly off topic, but I'm hoping there might be some Perl people on the
list:
I have downloaded:
txt2html-2.42.tar.gz
Module-Build-0.2611.tar.gz
I already have ActiveState perl installed (and running) on this Windows
platform - I know, use Linux - if I can get it going here at work I
certainly want to use it on my home Linux machine:
C:\Perl\lib>perl -v
This is perl, v5.6.1 built for MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
I'm failing to reach first base when I try to build txt2html:
C:\Temp\txt2html-2.42>perl Build.PL
Can't locate Module/Build.pm in @INC (@INC contains: C:/Perl/lib
C:/Perl/site/lib .) at Build.PL line 1.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at Build.PL line 1.
So it looks like the build module isn't installed. When I try to install
it, I get this:
C:\Temp\Module-Build-0.2611>perl Makefile.PL
# running Build.PL
C:\Perl\bin\perl.exe -Ilib Build.PL
Checking whether your kit is complete...
Looks good
* Optional prerequisite ExtUtils::CBuilder isn't installed
* Optional prerequisite Module::Signature isn't installed
* Optional prerequisite ExtUtils::ParseXS isn't installed
* Version 0.072 of Archive::Tar is installed, but we prefer to have
1.08
ERRORS/WARNINGS FOUND IN PREREQUISITES. You may wish to install the
versions
of the modules indicated above before proceeding with this
installation.
Feature 'YAML_support' disabled because of the following
prerequisite failures:
* Prerequisite YAML isn't installed
Deleting Build
Removed previous script 'Build'
Creating new 'Build' script for 'Module-Build' version '0.2611'
That all looks promising - all the warnings refer to "optional"
prerequisites... but I still don't have build.pm in my /perl/lib, and I
still can't build txt2html.
I know this is Windows, and in another life I might find time to have a
go under Linux, but can anyone help?
Thanks,
Douglas.
