Slightly irrelevant, and maybe not true to qemu ( but I use vmware a lot for 
testing ), the resources allocated to each imaage are private, and this means 
that you need a *lot* of memory if you want to run any number of images 
concurrently. I find that 3 + host vmware images on a 3GHz P4 with 2GB memory 
is ok, but after that it's the swapping that slows everything down.

If this is not true for qemu, then I need to invest a lot more time(1) in it!
