I've used all MTAs for large-ish volumes of mail (thousands of accounts), and I cannot recommend qmail for anything of that scale or below. But that's not what you asked, was it? If you're supporting hundreds of thousands of accounts, then the massive pain of qmail might be worth experiencing. I have used vchkpw (part of vpopmail) happily with the file-based mechanisms, but not with an LDAP backend. -jim
