I am a new Linux user (Mandriva LE 2005) with a couple
of boot problems that I would appreciate some
assistance with. Rik Tindall suggested posting the
details on the CLUG list and bringing my PC to
tonight's meeting.
The problems are:
1. Boot does not complete (no GUI just a blank screen)
unless the ethernet cable is connected to the
Surfboard cable modem. System seems to be running.
2. Firestarter firewall fails to initialize at boot
There are other issues e.g. audio card works fine but
I cannot get the microphone working. Fiddled with
Kmix but no joy...
How much hardware/software do I need to bring -
monitor??
If anyone has any questions I'll do my best to answer.
