Some people on the gentoo forums are having problems with EVMS grabbing partitions - they have suggested disabling evms and rebooting.
Looks like it shows up as device-mapper errors in dmesg output. http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-419030-highlight-mount+mounted+busy.html <copied forum comments> ... EVMS was somehow loading and claiming the drives as its own. I managed to get it working by removing EVMS from my boot options .... I just experienced this same thing, evms randomly decided to claim another partition as its own and that prevented it from being able to be mounted. Feel lucky I found this post so fast, I would have gone nuts before checking /dev/evms for it. Just rebooted a few more times and evms always is stealing the partition now, no idea why. </comments> I hope this helps.... I've tried apt-get install --reinstall mount, is that sufficient or is there something more I should try? The package versions: debian mount_2.12r-6_i386.deb ubuntu mount_2.12p-6ubuntu5_i386.deb Is it worth pointing out that the ubuntu partition mounts without difficulty into debian? (NB both are ext3). --Slosh -- ********************************************************************** Check out our web site: http://www.cdhb.govt.nz This email and attachments have been scanned for content and viruses and is believed to be clean This email or attachments may contain confidential or legally privileged information intended for the sole use of the addressee(s).
