Personally I don't see much chance that this traffic is *not* generated
by T/C. Afterall, they deliberately route it through their whole
network. If it was malicious, they could stop it at their nearest
router.

But consider the possibility that 172.20.18.55 is a "fake" IP generated
by their equipment on each subnet, in the same way as 192.168.100.1 is
a fake IP which is picked up by a supposedly transparent and therefore
non-addressable cablemodem.

Not that you didn't know this before, having checked your detailed T/C
usage page.

Or that the same person has responded to all the support requests from
concerned luggers.

This paranoid explanation is but one of the possibilities, IMHO.

Like the extra few CPU cycles to dump this stuff, when you're running
the whole box anyway? Get real. Save your steam for when you get tcp
DDoSed and actually *need* T/C cooperation in fending it off, because
then you are definitely paying for that traffic!

Without knowing their exact network setup it's somewhat difficult to
say.

Doubt it. That page is aimed at Joe Bloggs, and the issue in question
does not result in any discernible effect on his/her Mickeydesktop.
