acpi something... I think you need to modprobe eeprom (btw that screws with tuner cards)

I have seen somewhere in linux the details of how many memory slots are used in the machine. It may have been somwhere in /proc, or in some hardware identification utility, or in dmesg. But I cannot for the life of me find it.
