["Am I missing something, but WTF is DiG?"]
DiG = Don Gould

["and if you don't know how to read a header and figure out if an email has
been through the mail server, go to straight to jail, do not pass go, do not
collect $200 etc."]
Its a little hard to read a header when:
1. Your not subscribed to the clug mailing list
2. Its not (yet) in the archive(see screenshot)

["Sorry to top post but its hard to know where to start. I am not going to
compare my email archive (ie my imap store) with those online archives to
find out what you are talking about. If you think some emails are missing
from the archives, and you are really really worried about it I suggest that
you take a note of the times , senders and Message-Id and analyse it a bit
further."]
I wasn't asking for a complete compare, just those few emails. Anyway this
is all academic now.

["I can see emails from myself and Chris S in the archives that you have
posted jpegs of"]
I saw those too however they weren't in reply to DiG so that is why I asked
the question if they were private replies or not.

["Have you ever considered:

1. that no one who regularly reads this list actually runs those archives"]
Yeah http://www.mail-archive.com/ runs 3930 active lists so buckleys there.
However http://lists.ethernal.org/oldarchives/ runs only 3 Linux LUG related
lists so I thought the chances of the admin reading one of those lists was
pretty good and I wasn't going to cross post to all 3 :)

["2. that the archives do not update instantly"]
Yeah I considered that about an hour and a half later when I could not see
my own postings to the list in the archive.

["I for one have never liked the "mail-archive" archives. The ethernal one
is run by a friendly local (NZ) subscriber who doesn't post much these days,
and who does not provide a real time feed of his archives. Feel free to
contact him, but be more polite than just a blunt "please fix this" - he
provides a useful service for no particular reason other than that he feels
like it."]
Yeah just found out Michael Beattie runs the archives. I will make sure my
email is a lot more polite and courteous.

["By the way,are you the Wilbur who screwd up Don Gould's machine so that
every one of his posts now reads "I would install foo, but Wilbur
removed/screwed up/deleted my foo-installer-gizmo-magic-bean, and I don't
know how to get it back.""]
Now that Wilbur is always going around and causing trouble and spoiling my
good name of Wilber :p

["If so please come back and fix it, we are sick of his moaning about it
:-)"]
Yeah I'm coming back soon to New South Zealand, the unofficial seventh state
of Australia :p Last time I was there I only found one person to adopt me.
While I was over there I spent all my money so I have to save up again
before I can come back. However if people are willing to sponsor the "Help
fly Wilber over earlier" fund I could come sooner than if I saved up again.
I plan to have his machine fixed before I come back though.

["Yes, the wiki is wrong if it still says you don't have to have the it.
subdomain in the email address of this list. I assume you have fixed the
wiki by now. It used to work just addressing to @canterbury etc, it changed
at some point. Thanks for pointing that out."]
Yeah all fixed now :D

Hooroo,
Wilber

Everyone gets enough exercise jumping to conclusions, flying off the handle,
running down the boss, knifing friends in the back, dodging responsibility,
and pushing their luck.
