Yes I'm with Robert on this one.
I just put an XH1169 on my orcon connection in halfbridge mode in to the
back of my linux box.
Simply set up the ethX on the nix box for dhcp and the rest is done for you.
Half bridge means that all the pppoa session management is done by the
router while the ip stream is handed directly to the nix box as if it
were a live ip (which it is). This means you can host your own services
if you want to - I host a number.
