Nothing easier than that. That part of SUSE 10.1 is still working ;)) yast->software->software management, select search from the dropdown, type samb, tick(s) on the right, click accept. If you only have the 5 CDs, you might want to look into adding the SUSE inst-sources tree to your repositories. As to how to best do that, ... I found yum really easy and (apart from yast, once that one works again) definitely worth looking at. Personally I find it much better than smart (and smart --gui). Smart is just plain confusing.
