If the debs are on the CD (I don't see why they wouldn't be, but I haven't
checked) you should be able to copy them to your /var/cache/apt/archives/
directory before running the update to save the downloads.
All the .deb files for upgrading to Ubuntu 6.06 (& updated) have been
downloaded and can be gotten over the local network from Freenix
'conference mode' tonight, as advertised one month ago.
Endorsing Jim's comments, I've broken and recovered my Ubu6.06 upgrade
already (irda-utils) so it's pretty robust. SuSE just isn't quite as
good at upgrades yet, reading netnews. (Could that be a KDE thing:
flasher = more flaws?)
Any prospective *nix punters out there, don't let the 'desktop/distro
wars' put you off - there's optimum choice for you to find just what
suits you, and have that choice supported.
