I have assigned my self a hard task - in terms of my skill level.
I've been doing research in to the commonants that I can build it out of
that already exist.
I've posted messages to LARTC and DNSMasq mailing lists as well as here
on CLUG.
Of far I've identified that most of the requirment can be delivered
using IPTables and DNSMasq.
DNSMasq has an option --dhcp-script
Simon Kelly write "The MAC address and IP address and name of the host
are passed to the script."
Question Time...
A simple question I'm sure, but I just don't know what the answer is...
In a script, how do I see the parameters that are being passed in?
Is it %1, %2, %3 ?
IPTables has an 'account' option. Has anyone used it?
Has anyone used the mac filtering options?
I have read the help on the netfilter site, but don't 100% understand it.
I can follow up to do a single filter on a single mac, but I want to add
lots of macs, do I just add each one as a rule?
Can anyone comment on the rule over head? How much ram am I going to
need if I've got 300 macs in the table?
Cheers Don
